John 1:29-31, Genesis 22:8, Isaiah 53:7

Throughout the Old Testament, a spotless lamb was offered as a sacrifice for sin. Sin carried a cost and an innocent life was taken in place of the guilty.  Now John was announcing that the fulfillment of the prophecies had arrived.  Jesus would be the final and perfect sacrifice. He is the spotless Lamb, without sin, who would willingly lay down His life to take away the sin of the world.  Jesus’ blood would bring deliverance from sin and eternal death for all who believe in Him.
