John 12:20-25
“Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” We are reminded on Ash Wednesday that this life is fleeting. One day we will return to dust. What do you love? Status? Wealth? Control? What do you cling to? If you spend your time here on earth clinging to earthly things, you will lose everything when you die. Holding onto the things of this world will be meaningless when we die. Cling to the treasures of heaven, turning away from the world. Our reward in heaving is worth more than all of the earthly treasures combined.
