John 11:17-44

The loss of a loved one cuts deeply.  Jesus knows our grief and sadness.  In the midst of that grief, He gives us a promise.  “I am the resurrection and the life.  Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”  Jesus tells us that He is life.  Those who trust in Him still experience death but that is not the final word.  As Christians we grieve death with a confident hope.  “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)  Through Jesus, death no longer has power over us.
