What We Believe

God

The one, true and only God has revealed Himself to us in the Bible and is God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19), or the Triune God. The Christian God is One God and yet has revealed Himself in three distinct ways or Persons.

Creation

This Triune God has created all that is and continues to do so. He loves His creation and desires to live in relationship with what He has made (Genesis 1 and 2).

Sin

Unfortunately, though God created all things “good,” our world was thrust into degradation and death because of our sin (Genesis 3 and 4; Romans 6:23a). Sin causes physical death in our world, but sin also separates us from God for eternity.

Jesus

Jesus is God’s Son and our answer for our sin. Jesus stood in our place and took our punishment for the sin in our hearts and the sin we perpetuate in this world. Through Jesus death and resurrection you can be forgiven of sin so that you can live a new life in this world and live with God forever (John 3:16-18; Romans 6:23).

The Holy Spirit

God saves us through the death and resurrection of Jesus, but when He does, He also gives us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us faith, gives us gifts, gives us His fruitfulness in our lives (1 Corinthians 12:1-5; Galatians 5:22,23).

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It is everything that God wants us to know about Him and His way of salvation, but does not contain everything there is to know about God. No book could. God speaks to us through His Word since He wrote the words on the page, simply using men to pen the words He intended (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

Baptism

In baptism we are given the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Communion

In Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, we are given bread to eat and wine to drink. We are remembering Christ’s death on the cross, but more than just a remembrance, we’re also given Jesus’ Body and Blood with the bread and the wine for the forgiveness of our sin (Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 10:16 and 11:23-30).
