Celebrating Christ by Growing Up, Out, and Together
(LWML or Lutheran Women in Mission) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. For over 65 years, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions (taken from LWML website lwmlcid.org). There are presently two LWML organizations at Redeemer: Dorcas Circle and Women of Redeemer. These two organizations are actively serving the mission ministries of Redeemer and the national LWML through their collection of “mites”.

Online Giving allows you to make a one-time donation or to set up automatic recurring donations.
You may also register for church events, make payments to the Early Learning Center, or donate in memory or honor of a loved one.
The national LWML supports mission projects through its Mite Mission Grant Program. These projects are selected at the biannual national LWML conventions and total over $1,000,000! The biannual $1,800,000 goal is partially met by our Central Illinois District Mite Grants totaling $80,000 annually. “Mites” which can be loose change, dollar bills or checks are collected at Redeemer on the 5th weekends of various months. Look for the ladies with the purple aprons in the lobby. Of course, you may donate at any time; just note that your donation is for Mites, and leave it with the Welcome Desk receptionist. Reminders and information about the various mission projects are often in the Sunday bulletin, Redeemer’s weekly online newsletter, and on the media screens before services. Individual Mite Boxes are available to collect individual offerings.
Dorcas Circle meets in Miller Hall on the second Monday of each month, Sept. through May, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The October Garage Sale is a project of Dorcas Circle where proceeds are shared with students at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Dorcas members are also involved in sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief on the 1st and 3rd Monday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in Miller Hall. Supplying baby quilts to Lutheran Social Services is also accepted with open arms. Dorcas members also host funeral dinners, assist with the “Blessing Tree” at Christmas, serve Lenten and other meals, and participate in other projects for the congregation. Members support the National LWML through collection of Mite boxes at monthly meetings. All ladies of Redeemer are welcome to attend and help with the various service projects.
Women of Redeemer's purpose is to encourage the women of Redeemer Lutheran Church and our guests: to grow in our love and knowledge of Jesus as Savior and Lord; to stimulate the use of our spiritual gifts and talents; to nurture friendships and to support the missions of our church and the Lutheran Women in Mission (LWML) through Mite donations and LWML projects. Each year WOR sponsors a Women’s Conference reaching women through the Peoria and Central Illinois area. We also offer education grants to Redeemer members studying for full time church work. Meetings, events, and service projects are held during the year and all ladies of the church are invited to attend all activities.
For further information about LWML, Mites, Dorcas Circle or Women of Redeemer, see the weekly newsletter or the bulletin at weekend services.
