Confirmation
Confirmation in the Lutheran Church is a wonderful step in the discipleship-life of the Christian. More often than not in our church we baptize and make disciples when children are infants. Often adults are baptized too, but our understanding of God’s Word and His grace drives us to baptize children as soon as possible.
At around thirteen years of age, then, it’s been our tradition to “confirm” the faith of the child given at baptism. They go through two years of instruction from God’s Word and other helpful books. At the end of that time they profess their faith in God and are expected to be strong disciples for His name, the name in which they were claimed at baptism—the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
